How natural are "natural" ingredients in beauty products!

It's probably better to just make your own "natural" beauty products if you want to make sure that actually contain "all natural ingredients. There are several good companies based ingredients to facilitate providing making their own products. Natural cosmetics are easy to make at home using nothing more than a regular kitchen equipment.

This article takes a look to how manufacturers of beauty products tell us what is in their products.

The cosmetics market has grown significantly over the past 25 years, but in the last 10 years has been a growing interest in the ingredients in the lotions, creams and potions that apply to our skin so generously – The largest organ of our bodies.

Many main stream manufacturers still include a range of not-so-natural ingredients in their products:

– Waste products of the petrochemical industry
– Lead and other heavy metals
– The products extracted from animal carcasses

Many of these ingredients are given scientific sounding names. While the cynical may say that this is a deliberate attempt to mislead the consumer, a more charity is that this is done in the pursuit of accuracy in labeling.

As a result of awareness of health issues and confusion over ingredients and labeling, a new sector of this lucrative market has arisen, which is the need for natural skin care and cosmetics.

But only the natural natural?

Many consumers require natural ingredients, but are unwilling to accept the necessary compromise in product performance. A classic example the ingredient is sodium lauryl sulphate. It is a synthetic detergent derived from coconut oil and appearing in a wide range of shampoos, bath products, toothpastes and liquid soaps. It is what gives these luxury products and the bubbles of foam that we all have become accustomed. A number of studies have suggested that this ingredient is harmful and many consumers now seek products containing an alternative.

Manufacturers then developed Sodium laureth sulphate, which is considered less irritating than sodium lauryl sodium sulfate. When this was condemned, were substituted ammonium laureth sulfate and ammonium lauryl sulfate. Again, these are synthetic detergents developed from coconut oil and is still considered an irritant. Some studies have also suggested they may be carcinogenic.

Unless consumers are aware bio-chemistry is almost impossible to discern what ingredients are natural and what is not. The SLS saga is but one example of this confusion.

It is ironic that a number of "natural" manufacturers aggressively promote their products by denigrating the products of competing companies – despite the fact that ingredients they contain are essentially the same.

Consumers should be aware of the real meanings behind the mysterious names on their bottles and jars cosmetics and educated about the various aliases is likely to be found.

Depending on the reasons for wanting to buy natural products, some ingredients may be more acceptable than others. Take lanolin, for example. Lanolin is extracted from the wool of sheep. Have been shown to contain a large number of chemicals used to kill parasites that can live in sheep. Many eczema sufferers that treatment with lanolin based products – despite the chemicals – helps to reduce the symptoms. The benefits of Lanolin treatment offset the disadvantage of potential contaminants. This is a view of value that individuals need to do.

In conclusion, one of the best ways to ensure that their products are natural is to do yourself. There are a growing number of companies providing organic based ingredients to facilitate making national product. Natural cosmetics are surprisingly easy to do at home using nothing more than a regular kitchen equipment. This may be an alternative control output value.
