How To Apply Sunscreen
Always wear sunscreen. How many time have you heard it? The American Academy of Dermatology reaffirms its long-standing position that sunscreen protection is beneficial in preventing painful sunburn, photo aging and skin cancer.
Skin cancer is often given short shift when cancer is discussed. In truth, it can be deadly in some forms and thousands of people suffer from it. Many of them don’t even know until it is too late. Fortunately, skin cancer is preventable and easily so. It is all about using sunscreen. There is more to it, however, than just applying sunscreen once at the beginning of the day and then forgetting about it. Here are some tips on how you should use it.
A sunburn is when your skin cells are damaged by UV radiation put off by the sun. Your body responds to this damage by increasing the blood flow in the capillary bed of the dermis to bring in cells to repair the damage. The redness associated with a sunburn is due to this increased blood flow in your capillaries.
To check if a sunscreen is effective when he’s in the water, he looks for a tan line where the wetsuit covers his skin to his wrist verses his hands, his skin exposed to the sun. If his eyes sting, he knows the sunscreen isn’t staying on.
Cold sore treatment
One of the problems of HSV-1 is that once infected it inhabits a sufferer’s body for their entire life. Lying dormant in the nerve cells, it may reoccur when the body’s defenses are reduced, such as when the sufferer is suffering from a cold or from stress, as mentioned previously.
Water Intake
If you are dehydrated, your skin will not appear as clear, fresh, soft and radiant as it is supposed to be. You should drink enough liquids, mainly water, to keep your skin revitalized. Avoid caffeine, alcohol or sugary drinks.
Sensitive Skin
People that have sensitive skin must wear sunscreen and, additionally, should wear long sleeve shirts, wide brim hats and avoid the peak sun hours of 10am to 3pm.
Apply Sunscreen Generously
Your basic common sense skin care message is: Generously apply sunscreen to all exposed skin using a SPF of at least 15 that provides broad-spectrum protection from both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays. Reapply every 80 minutes, even on cloudy days, and after swimming or sweating.
How do I protect myself in the water? Choose a waterproof sunscreen and reapply it after swimming. Remember that many public swimming pools require that you shower before entering the pool. This will remove much of your sunscreen.
If you want to avoid tanning and wrinkling due to the sun rays, you should ensure that you apply sunscreen creams or lotions every time you go out in the sun. Sunscreen lotions and creams protect harmful UVA and UVB rays from reaching the skin and also contain melanin formula which will guard you against unwanted tanning of skin. Check label of your sunscreen and make sure it has necessary chemical composition.
These tips on how to get rid of cold sores fast will not be effective without the basics. Ensure that you eat a balanced diet at all times. However, do avoid foods rich in arginine. Arginine is the amino acid the virus uses for its replication and growth. These foods include chocolate, oat meal, whole wheat and seeds. Do not share personal items. Avoid close contact with infected individuals.
